Why Mediation?
- One hourly rate for two people;
- Determine what’s important and get to the heart of the issue;
- Focus on reducing or eliminating conflict for you and the kids;
- Maintain control of decision-making in your own lives (i.e. don’t hand it over to a Judge);
- Plan for the future;
- Mediation is an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) process, which is often a pre-requisite to bringing a Court application (if we can’t help you find a workable solution that keeps you out of court).
Parenting Mediation Package
Available only if your lawyers have referred you to us for mediation of your parenting issues;
Package includes:
- Introductory telephone call with your lawyers (30 minutes);
- Meet the Mediator Introductory Session and Intake (30 -45 minutes with each parent – Either by Zoom or In Person);
- Pre-Mediation Workbook and Information about Mediation Guide;
- Up to 3 mediation sessions. Up to 2 hours each session. In person only. Convenient south side location and free parking;
- Your own copy of “Tug of War: A Judge’s Verdict on Separation, Custody Battles and the Bitter Realities of Family Court.”;
- Follow up telephone call with your lawyers (if needed/desired);
- First Draft of Parenting Plan;
- *Substantive Changes to Parenting Plan after first draft or further sessions are charged hourly. Any communication between mediation meetings by participants or their lawyers is charged hourly at $325/hour.
Cost and Prerequisites:
- $3000 plus GST;
- Each parent to provide $1500 retainer at outset. Flat rate.
- Parenting After Separation Completion Certificates for each parent required;
- Each party has their own lawyer.
