What is
Collaborative Law?

Collaborative law is a process that combines the best of mediation and its dispute resolution techniques with timely legal advice from your registered Collaborative lawyer.
Both people hire registered Collaborative family law lawyers. We start work as a team of four (two lawyers and two clients) and resolve all differences in a series of meetings as a group. Meetings can take place online or in person. We can add other professional team members as necessary (e.g. Parenting experts, financial experts etc.).
The Collaborative process can resolve all issues, from parenting, property division, child support or spousal support.

Why Collaborative process?
Whichever divorce path you choose, we'll help you cover your bases:
- Eliminates the back and forth negotiating letters between lawyers;
- Efficiency;
- Work as a team to best satisfy everyone’s goals (including what’s best for the kids);
- Creative options for resolution;
- Its like mediation (sitting down as a team), but you get your legal advice simultaneously and the lawyers can draft and execute your Separation Agreement with you;
- Transparency (all but eliminates the idea that your spouse and their lawyer are strategizing against you).

Cost
Legal services for the Collaborative process are charged hourly. Typically the hourly rate is less than for traditional, non-Collaborative legal services.
