An uncontested divorce is a type of divorce in which both spouses agree on all issues relating to the divorce and do not require a Separation Agreement. Most often people without children or property are looking for an uncontested divorce. We offer flat rates for uncontested divorces.

No. The mediator does not provide legal advice. A mediator is a neutral professional who is there to help you work through the issues and arrive at an agreement that works for everyone.

No. The Parenting Plan can form part of the Court Order (or be attached to a Court Order) or the Separation Agreement. Most often, people will come to mediation to develop their parenting plan and will often take it back to their lawyers to incorporate (or attach) to their Separation Agreement or Consent Divorce Judgment/Court Order.

If you need more than 6 hours of mediation as provided for in the Parenting Mediation Package, then you will be charged an hourly rate for any time in excess of the included 6-hours.

Yes, you will be charged hourly as the Parenting Mediation Package is only for those where each parent already has a lawyer and the lawyers have agreed and referred the parents to us. To get started, book a short 30 minute consult with us (jointly with the other parent) to discuss your options. We will send you a Zoom link so that you can both attend that 30 minute complimentary consult.

We will often mediate child support issues as part of the Parenting Mediation Package if agreeable to both parties. We can mediate other issues as well (e.g. property division, spousal support). Mediation of broader issues, is done at an hourly rate and not included in the Parenting Mediation Package.

We work hard to turn down the level of conflict and have reasonable conversations that protect both parties’ interests while protecting children from conflict and chaos. We also appreciate that there are some cases where litigation might be needed.

As you can imagine, it is difficult to predict the cost of your unique matter. For most family law matters, we charge an hourly rate. As part of your complimentary 30-minute call, we will review financial expectations with you. Our hourly fees are lower for people who decide to use the formal Collaborative process or Parenting Mediation over traditional negotiation or litigation.

If you’ve ever consulted with a lawyer, you may have heard the term “Retainer”. A Retainer is a lump sum amount of money that a law firm asks you to provide up front before work actually starts on your file.

In most cases, we will ask you to provide a retainer to our firm before we take on your case. The amount of the retainer will vary depending on your particular circumstances and will be set after taking into account the complexity of your case, the degree of conflict between the people involved, any upcoming or anticipated court dates or the type of conflict resolution process you choose (e.g. Collaborative process, Mediation or traditional legal services).
